Village IGA supermarket (located halfway between Cow Bay and
Cape Tribulation) has a wide range of fresh fruit and vegetables,
frozen goods and groceries, and also sells petrol.
Masons Shop at Cape Tribulation provides groceries, cold
drinks, dairy, fruit, vegetables and bread and has an extensive
range of beer, spirits and bottled wine.
Cow Bay Hotel has a bottle shop

TRANSPORT
- PUBLIC BUS
If you plan to travel up by bus, check with the bus companies for
up to date details, they change their timetables from time to time
so the information below can not be guaranteed to be up to date.
COUNTRY ROAD - phone 4045 2794. This bus does
a run all the way from Cairns to Cooktown, so is a good option if
you plan to head further north after your Cape Tribulation stay.
They depart Cairns at 06.45 in the morning, arriving in Cape Trib
about 10.45, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. More

SUNPALM - phone 4084 2626. The bus leaves Cairns early in
the morning and arrives at Cape Trib around midday, and then returns
to Cairns in the afternoon. Email sunpalm@ledanet.com.au
for their timetable. They also offer a route to Cooktown via Cape
Trib three days a week.
CORAL REEF COACHES operate a regular service between Cairns,
Mossman, Port Douglas, Cape Tribulation and Cooktown.Phone: 07 4098
2600. The early run starts at 7.00am from Port Douglas to Cape Tribulation.
Also Cape Trib Connections comes up to Cape Trib from Cairns
each day transporting people who have bought packages. If you book

TRANSPORT
- CAPE TRIB SHUTTLE
It
is possible to get around Cape Trib without a car, especially now
the shuttle bus is operating on the hour between PKs and Coconut
Beach (2 kms to the south of Cape Trib). The fare is $4.- for a
trip, regardless of where you get on or off. Operates on the hour,
throughout the day until 10 pm at night. And you get to meet Martin,
one of the local characters!
TRANSPORT
- DAINTREE FERRY
The
Daintree Ferry operates from 6 am until midnight, seven days a week.
The cost per vehicle is $16.- return. Tickets are purchased on the
ferry. Part of the ticket price contributes to the maintenance of
tourist facilities north of the Daintree River. Be aware that you
may face delays during peak times - heading north (10 - 1 pm) -
heading south (3 -6pm).
We
recommend that you plan to stay overnight in the area to experience
the best of what the Daintree Rainforest - Cape Tribulation region
has to offer. If you must come for a single day, plan to stay in
the area until evening, so that you do not spend two hours in the
ferry queue.
AIR TRANSPORT: DAINTREE AIR
STRIP |
This family owned
airstrip and welcomes charter flights, helicopters, microlights
and ultralights. The strip is unsealed – grass with
some blue metal and gravel. It has a windsock, strip markers
and no lighting. It is one mile in length and landing fees
apply. |

There
is a service centre located at Cow Bay in the Daintree region. The

BANKING
There is no bank north of the Daintree River, but
most businesses accept major credit cards and some have EFTPOS facilities
which permit you to obtain cash. ATMs are located at Rainforest
Village, located halfway between Cape Tribulation and Cow Bay
and PKs Jungle Village, and the IGA at Cape Tribulation
INTERNET
ACCESS
The Cape Trib Beach House has three computer terminals for internet access located in the Bar and Bistro area next to the pool and the beach. Dragonfly Gallery Cafe has wireless internet where people can sit around the cafe with their laptop.. PKs Jungle Village has three computer terminals located in the Bar area. The Daintree Bar at Ferntree Rainforest Lodge has two coin-operated internet terminals. Masons Information Centre and Cape Trib Shop also have internet terminals.
CHURCH
Catholic Mass is held on the first Saturday of each month at Deep Forest Lodge at 8.30am. Mass is followed by a shared morning tea. Everyone is welcome. Please ring 4098 9162 to check for any date changes.
FUEL
There is only one fuel outlet north of the Daintree River, located at Cooper Creek.
BAR-B-QUE

picnic ground at
Cape Trib, located on the main road, is directly opposite Camelot
Rd. Gas bar-b-ques are provided courtesy of National Parks, picnic
tables under shelter, composting toilets. There is also a boardwalk
here and a path through to Myall Beach. Gas
for the bar-b-que is free.
HEALTH
SERVICES
There is a Health Clinic which operates several mornings
a week from the Diwan Community Centre in Cow Bay, with a trained
nurse. The closest doctors are at Mossman, where there is also a
hospital.
